About the Salt Lake Fish and Game Foundation

Who we are, and who we are not

The Salt Lake Fish and Game Foundation (SLF&GF) is a private non-profit foundation whose primary goal is the preservation and protection of Utah's wildlife and natural renewable resources.  We accomplish this goal by making small grants and donations to like-minded groups and individuals. From our inception as a non-profit in 1926 until 2017 we were known as the Salt Lake County Fish and Game Association. That title has always been confusing as we have never been affiliated with Salt Lake County, nor with any government agency.  We have also never been a private hunting or fishing UintasMeadow DanPottsclub. Originally formed as a sportsmen's social group shortly after the turn of the 19th century, we are one of the most experienced, broad-based, statewide pro-wildlife organizations in the Intermountain West.

Our past success has always been through the efforts of dedicated administrations, directors and other individuals working primarily through the Association's active committees to involve us in various wildlife-oriented projects and issues, and also through our numerous social interactions and outings into Utah's great out-of-doors. Our organization has always been consisted of mostly families and their friends, and, has more participation by women than many other such local organizations. We think that by working closely with a wide diversity of other wildlife-oriented organizations and related government agencies over the decades we have successfully involved ourselves in a wide diversity of small and large game, and watchable wildlife projects and issues to have truly made a difference here in Utah over the past 100 years.
